Precision Solar Controls was the first company to introduce the benefits of solar technology to the traffic industry.

How it works
The Sun is an extremely powerful energy source, and solar radiation is by far the largest source of energy received by the Earth. Solar Power is a clean, sustainable energy. It is power generation right at the source with no fuel, noise or moving parts.

We first determine how much power is needed for a solar traffic product to achieve autonomy (that means they'll run without the aid of the sun). Precision Solar Controls then builds each battery bank large enough to achieve the appropriate power draw. We use only deep cycle batteries that are designed to provide power over a long period of time. With the properly sized Precision Solar Controls solar panel arrays, you'll recover one day's power use in only 2-3 hours. On a sunny day, the battery will not only get enough power for that day's use, but will recharge the battery bank.

L.E.D. Technology
While L.E.D. technology is relatively new to the transportation industry, its key advantages over incandescent lamps are clear:

  • Greater life expectancy (about 100,000 hours)
  • Greater Reliability

How it works
Precision Solar Controls has taken advantage of the fact that L.E.D. manufacturers have now created L.E.D.'s that are designed to be more tolerant of ambient temperatures.

L.E.D.'s are different from ordinary light bulbs because they don't have a filament, which can break or burn out. That translates into less maintenance for you. They require less power and generate very little heat, and are ideal as the light source in battery-operated equipment.

Diodes only let electricity flow in one direction. Light Emitting Diodes have the added benefit, or side effect, of producing light while electricity is flowing through them.

We've been manufacturing high quality traffic control equipment utilizing L.E.D.'s since 1992. The benefits of L.E.D.'s, compared with incandescent and fluorescent illuminating devices, include:

  • Low power requirement
  • High efficiency: Most of the power supplied to an L.E.D. is converted into radiation in the desired form with minimal heat production.
  • Long life: An L.E.D. can function for decades.

It's important to note that L.E.D. manufacturers have significantly improved L.E.D.'s by making them more tolerant of ambient conditions.
